Profitability Analysis of Public Banks and Publicly Traded Private Banks with Promethee Method
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare government banks and private banks in that their performance of profitability by using the Promethee method. In the study, three public and ten private banks are analyzed according to their performances between 2006 and 2012. Data set used in the application of the method were reached from the balance sheets and income statements released online in tbb.org.tr web site. Research results show that Halk Bank is the most profitable one among public banks while it is Denizbank among private banks. In addition to that, all banks considered, both public and private banks are profitable and Halk Bank is the most profitable one among all.
