RODERİC HOLLETT DAVİSON’IN HAYATININ, ESERLERİNİN VE DÜŞÜNCESİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Bu çalışmada, Roderic Hollett Davison’ın hayatı, eserleri ve düşüncesi incelenmiştir. Geniş bir çalışma alanı bulunan Davison’ın çalışmaları ağırlıklı olarak Osmanlı tarihi, Osmanlı diplomasi tarihi, Türkiye tarihi ve Avrupa tarihi alanındadır. Çalışmalarında kaynakça kullanımına özen gösteren Davison’ın eserlerini çeşitli başlıklar altında toplanmak mümkündür. Kitap, makale ve kitap incelemeleri yapan yazarın bu çalışma kapsamında kitapları ve makaleleri incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda ilk alt başlıkta Davison’ın hayatı, kitapları ve makaleleri içerik açısından değerlendirilmekte; ardından çalışmaları içerik açısından gruplandırılan çeşitli alt başlıklarda birbirleriyle bağlantılı bir şekilde ele alınmaktadır. Böylece Davison’ın ele aldığı konular çerçevesinde bakış açısı, üslubu ve eserlerin içeriği ayrıntılı bir şekilde analiz edilmiştir. Son alt başlıkta ise Davison’ın Türkiye üzerinde düşüncelerine değinilmiştir. Yazarın çalışmalarındaki bütünlük ve birbirini tamamlayıcılık çalışmanın genel akışı içerisinde verilmiştir. Son olarak yazarın ve eserlerinin genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır.

ANALYSIS OF THE LIFE, WORKS AND THOUGHT OF RODERIC HOLLETT DAVISON

Öz

In this study was discussed the life, works and thought of Roderic Hollett Davison. Davison, who had a wide field of work, mainly focused on Ottoman history, Ottoman diplomacy, Turkish history and European history. It is possible to collect the works of Davison, who paid attention to the use of bibliography in his works, under certain subheadings. The books and articles of the author, who composed book, article and book reviews, were evaluated his books and articles as part of this study.” in this context, the study was analyzed the books and articles. Within this context primarily, his life, books and articles were examined. Subsequently his books and articles were divided into in various ways in terms of content and analyzed in connection with each other. Thus, Davison's perspective, style and content of the works were examined in detail within the framework of the subjects he dealt with. The final subtitle, Davison's thoughts on Turkey are mentioned. Integrity and complementarity in the work of the author are given in the general flow of the study. Finally, the author and his works has been generally evaluated.
