FACTORS DETERMINING LABOR PRODUCTIVITY OF PHYSICIANS: THE CASE OF SELÇUK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SCHOOL HOSPITAL
Abstract
The health sector with its labor intensive nature
emerges as a sector in which labor productivity is crucial. Nowadays health
spending has a significant share in governments’ budgets so it has become
increasingly important to achieve the highest labor productivity in health care
organizations. The labor productivity of physicians as key service providers in
the health sector might be decisive for the entire sector's efficiency.
Therefore, it is necessary to determine the factors that affect labor
productivity of physicians and to make arrangements accordingly to increase
efficiency. In this study, aiming to determine these factors, a survey was
conducted on the sample of physicians working in Selçuk University Medical
School Hospital in Konya. With this survey, it is tried to examine how
administrative and organizational factors, physical, technical and social
factors affect the productivity of physicians through their responses. In
addition, it is investigated whether factors determining productivity changes
according to the demographic characteristics of physicians and degree of
specialization.

Sağlık
sektörü emek yoğun yapısı ile işgücü verimliliğinin büyük önem taşıdığı bir
sektör olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Sağlıkla ilgili harcamaların devlet
bütçelerinde önemli bir paya sahip olduğu günümüzde, sağlık kuruluşlarında
çalışanlardan en yüksek verimi elde edebilmek gittikçe daha önem kazanmıştır.
Sağlık sektöründe temel hizmet sağlayıcısı konumunda bulunan hekimlerin işgücü
verimliliği tüm sektörün verimliliğinin de belirleyicisi olabilmektedir. Bu
nedenle hekimlerim işgücü verimliliğini etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi ve
buna göre verimliliği artırıcı düzenlemelerin yapılması gerekmektedir. Bu
faktörlerin belirlenmesine yönelik bu çalışmada, Konya ili Selçuk Üniversitesi
Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesinde çalışan hekimler örneklem olarak seçilerek anket
çalışması yapılmıştır. Bu anket ile yönetsel ve örgütsel faktörler, fiziksel
faktörler, teknik faktörler ve sosyal faktörlerin hekimlerin verimliliğini ne
oranda etkiledikleri kendi değerlendirmeleri yoluyla anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Ayrıca hekimlerin demografik özellikleri ve uzmanlık derecelerine göre
verimliliği belirleyen faktörlerde değişme olup olmadığı da araştırılmıştır.
